How To Make A Work At Home Schedule That Works!
When working from home it is really easy to fall out of the habit of actually working. You are at home surrounded by all of your favorite things and it can hard to focus on completing the work you need to.
There are a few things I do to help with lack of motivation. Sometimes a change of scenery helps. If I am having a really hard time focusing at home I may go to a local coffee shop, cafe, library, or hackerspace. It gives me the opportunity to clear my head and focus on the task at hand. Another thing that had helped me no matter what is setting a schedule.
If are freelancing or blogging, sometimes you days can seem to all blur together and it can be hard to keep a schedule. I always keep my schedule flexible, as to have time to do different things with my family and friends but most of the time my days look about the same.
I molded my daily schedule after what a typical "work day" would look like. I like to wake up and meditate, take my dogs out, and make breakfast. That typically takes me 90 minutes. I try to start my work day by 10 am. I always start my day focusing on my blogs. I promote new posts, reply to comment's and work on writing new content. Then I take a quick break to let my dogs out and grab a drink of water.
When I come back to my work station and start focusing on any work I have to do for clients. After that, I take a "lunch break". I give myself an hour for lunch and during that time I practice yoga, make lunch and take my dogs out (again). After lunch, I go back to my work station and finish up any client work I might have. Then I work on Fancyhands. I work on there for the remainder of my day and take one more break to take care of my dogs. I typically wrap up my day around 6 pm and spend the rest of my day with my family.
The trick is to find what works for you. My schedule may not work for you, and that is okay! The important thing is to find what suits you best and then build around that.
